Things are well at the edge of town. Marieke and I recently talked to publisher Platform Gras. They are enthusiastic about our photo project about life on the edge of Groningen. Looks like this time next year our book will be released. All the more reason to shift things into higher gear and photograph even more unique locations, people and situations. This weekend we focused on the Northeast part of Groningen. At Kardinge we met these guys, who spend every Sunday biking down the Kardinge hill (in spite of any ominous skies).
In 2009 I started working with Marieke Kijk in de Vegte on ‘Randverschijningen’ (‘Border Apparitions’), a photo project about life on the edge of a city. Although we are still working on the photo series the project has already gained some publicity. Recently, photos of the project appeared in two Dutch magazines: Blauwe Kamer (August 2010) and Kijk op het Noorden (October 2010).
Sorry, this entry is only available in nl.
Journalist Marcel Wichgers wrote a review for the university newspaper UK (6 May 2010) after visiting the exhibition ‘Groter dan Groningen’ (Larger than Groningen) at the CBK. He is very positive about the photos of the project Randverschijningen, which I made with fellow photographer Marieke Kijk in de Vegte. Would you like to see the photos? The exhibition at the CBK Groningen lasts until 30 May.
